Business Blogging: a must for survival in 2009

by admin on 06/25/2009

For a while I had dismissed the idea that having a blog could be an effective tool to connect with customers or that it could be an effective sales tool. I’m on the other extreme now. I truly believe that having a blog these days is a 100% must for every organization. Keep reading and you’ll find out why.

Top 5 reasons to have a blog

1: A blog helps remove the virtual ‘WALLS” we put up anytime we deal with a corporation since a blog gives us a peek into the personality of a particular company or individual. We are able to connect in a more personal level with the author of the blog.

2: Blogs are treated as resources because they are constantly changing and evolving. Most static websites do nothing more than talk about the company without giving any compelling reason for a customer to return again and again.

My favorite 3 reasons because they deal with my favorite topic SEO (search engine optimization)

3:  A blog allows you to give the search engines what they want to rank your site higher on the search engines.  “Content is king”. Search engines like Google and Yahoo absolutely love new useful and relevant content. The reason for this is because it gives them better content to draw from when people are searching the web.  If you’re content is “relevant” to the search being performed, you stand a good change of getting your site in the coveted front page of Google.

4: Blog platforms like Wordpress (that’s what I use) submits your content to services that notify the search engines about the updates you’re made to your blog. This is extremely important because Google knows you’re proving updated information and therefore they will give you “preferential” treatment over the sites that never change.

5: You can have your website listed on search engines  for more “search terms”. If you have a 5 page website, which is the norm, you can only effectively target 5 search terms (ie. lynchburg web design). If you have 50 pages or blog posts then you can optimize each one for a particular search term.

***Bonus Info***
If you don’t have a blog yet don’t panic.  Its extremely easy to get one up and running.
Please post your comments ( just so that i know i’m not alone) and I will reveal how to setup a blog where you can begin to advertise your product and service on other blogs completely for free and under 10 seconds.
